This annual protest has been going on for 20 years, but what set this year apart was the number of counter-protesters asserting the goodness of killing unborn children. Anyone who was at the Walk would describe it as more intense than any other year.
While the audacity of the anti-life protesters is both heartbreaking and infuriating, it is encouraging that the Walk for Life is making a big enough ripple in the Bloomington to be opposed openly.
I just read Monday’s article in the IDS about GenderF**k IU, an event sponsored by SAGE which took place this past Friday night at the IU Auditorium. All aspects of this event as reported by the IDS were disturbing:
First, the photos: a mostly naked man covered in blue body paint with giant glittery teardrops around his nipples, a blonde woman in tight black lingerie and leather boots, and an angry woman in a skintight tan leotard. These images plainly show that the purpose of this event was entirely self-indulgent and self-congratulatory.
Little 5 week marks the height of IU's perennial extravagant display of drunkenness, debauchery, carousing, and fornication. An article in the IDS reported on GLOWfest, which took place on Thursday night, leading into the weekend of insanity. Headliner Chiddy Bang rapped these telling words...

In an earlier post on the recent homophobia forum, I mentioned that Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) had partnered with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to bring a practicing homosexual to campus to speak in the name of Jesus. This was because the promotional material—both posters and pamphlets—had CSF's name and logo attached to them.
However, I had the joy of speaking with a CSF staff worker this afternoon who informed me that CSF had no idea their name was attached to the event. In fact, CSF took no part in planning or promoting the forum. I then received the following statement via email, which I am permitted to publish here:
(UPDATED 4/5/11)

This past Monday evening InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Indiana University sponsored a "forum" called "Jesus and the end of homophobia." It was the first in a weeklong series of forums collectively titled "Jesus and the end of..." Several of our students attended.
Brothers and sisters, we are grieved over what happened here. We urge you to read this post with humility, praying that God would grant repentance to all who were involved and that He would protect those who might have been led astray.
