CNCF End of Year Super Celebration!

What: a party, because this year was awesome!

When: 7pm Saturday, (not Friday, due to the men's spring event)

Plan to come for dinner cuz we are gonna grill out! (Insert mouth watering here...) Also, there will be a fun slideshow of photos from throughout this past year that you won't want to miss. Oh, and did we mention the surprises?! Yeah, we've got those too but that's all you'll hear, as it's kind of top secret.

So, call your friends, carpool out and plan for one last blast of the year this Saturday night. It's where it's at.

Ok. Call this your friendly neighborhood reminder: the Fold is not in Woodburn tonight. As the semester comes to a close, that room gets taken up for classes, tests and so forth, and we get kicked out. Like tonight. So, instead, we will be in Jordan Hall, room A100 for the Fold tonight. Repeat: JH A100, tonight at 8pm. Now, you know. Spread the word. Don't forget. Be there. It's easy.

Thursday, April 15, 2010 - 03:56

Some of you may remember this time last year and a particularly awesome Friday evening. Think back: exploding coke and mentos, Texas license plates, dumpster items and 9:00 o'clock curfews. That's right- it's scavenger hunt time!

The plan is to meet at the LAB (Lane, Adrian and Ben's place) at 7pm. From there, we'll divide into teams, split up cars and cameras and you'll get the top-secret lists. The clocks starts and off everyone goes. It's a ton of fun.

Here's the official scoop:

When: 7pm, Friday, April 16th
Where: The LAB and beyond! (1725 S. Highland Ave)
Who: YOU

So, grab some friends, your camera and cords (so that we can see all the pics and videos later) and wear weather appropriate clothing. Trust us, you don't want to miss this!

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 - 18:10

Ok. We just hit April and have only a few more Fridays of the semester left. Crazy, we know; it's one of those 'time flies when you're having fun' instances. But, it's also time to get in our guy/girl split for the month. So, men and women, check it out and enjoy your evenings!

 MEN:

Plan to head over to Bryan Park at 6:30pm. Meet at the Henderson St. shelter and we'll grill out. Think burgers, chips, drinks and all that good cookout stuff. Afterwards, it's time to hit the sports. Get ready for some tackle football and the like. Bring sports equipment- whatever you've got. Along with that, grab $3 to help cover the costs of food. Now then, all you need to do is get your game on and prepare to get dirty.

 WOMEN:

Your evening may not be as muddy as the men's but it will certainly be as fun. Hopefully, you've all signed up for the Women's Retreat because that's where you're headed. Plan to carpool out together to the camp (208 Hidden Falls Camp Rd, Bedford, IN 47421) and arrive at 5:50pm for check-in and dinner. The theme for this year is entitled 'Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Roles.' This will be a time of encouragement, much laughter, chocolate, relaxing, some possible tears, good teaching, funny games and spring hiking. So, pack your bag and enjoy a few days away from classes and campus spent with other women from CGS!

 (by Paul Belcher)

Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23, 24, NAS95.

Jeremiah was a bold and faithful prophet who brought the Word of the Lord against Judah and Jerusalem, calling them to repentance for their many sins. The priests and prophets and all the people wished to kill him because of his prophecies. Nevertheless, Jeremiah faithfully proclaimed that if the people would change their ways and obey the voice of the Lord their God, then He would not bring this misfortune upon them. We need to have this same courage and boldness and faith when we proclaim the glorious truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us.

When you boast on the campus of Indiana University, do not be proud of your own abilities. Boast in the Lord, and only then will we see some real evangelism and discipleship on the campus. We want to boast in our G.P.A., in our music ability, in the way we dress, what music we listen to, our intellect, the list goes on. Sorry to break it to you, but all these are doomed to perish with time. If you put your hope and boast in temporal things of this world, you will be sadly disappointed on the day when the great Judge of the world comes to pass judgment for the deeds we have done in our bodies. On the Day of Judgment, will Jesus Christ care about these things that we hold so dear, these obsessions that we so often serve as idols? Jesus Christ convicts the world of sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:8).

Furthermore, do not be intimidated by intellectuals who have no fear of God. Do not fear them. Ever. Keep in mind that Scripture calls the man who says that there is no God a fool. He may be ‘intelligent’ among peers, but he has no godly wisdom. Students and professors who do not fear God want to boast in a number of things, but all for pride and selfish vainglory. They perform deeds to be seen my men. People who are entertaining flagrant sins often deny God in order to justify their inadmissible desires.

God Almighty has poured out His lovingkindness and compassion on we poor sinners. Indiana University is in desperate need of Jesus Christ and His saving Gospel. Do you love them? Boast in the LORD!

“Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.” Isaiah 30:18, NAS95.

As you may have heard, we’re headin’ west this summer – to Norman, Oklahoma.  “What’s in Norman?” you ask?  Well, if you’re looking for roller coasters or concerts, you probably won’t find any.  There aren’t any world renown museums or landmarks.  As a matter of fact, you’ll probably find that Norman is a lot like Bloomington.  That’s part of the why you’re equipped to go with us.

Norman is the most unchurched city in Oklahoma.  With a population of nearly 110,000, recent statistics suggest that only 10% of residents regularly attend church.  The city is also the home of the University of Oklahoma, bringing an influx of students and staff from around the country.  This city needs Christ’s gospel.

We’ll be partnering with University Fellowship Church (a new church plant in Norman) to host a Vacation Bible School, execute a campus outreach project, paint the new church facility, and more.  Whether or not you have skills with kids and paint brushes, we want you to join us.  This trip will be full of hands on lessons in building up Christ’s church and fellowship with other college students.

If you’re a student involved with Clear Note Campus Fellowship, would you prayerfully consider signing up for this trip?

Who: CNCF and You!
When: June 5th-June 12th (Sat-Sat)
Where: Norman, OK
Why: To share the Gospel of Christ!
Cost: $150.00 ($50.00 Deposit Required)

What’s Included?
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner Sun-Fri
- Transportation
- Supplies

How to Sign Up:
1) Stop by the table after the Fold

2) Write your name on a piece of paper

3) Turn in your $50.00 deposit

One type of song that I love most is when there is a story or situation being told in the song. This is a track called "Stranger 2 Stranger" that involves an evangelistic conversation between a believer and an unbeliever who has a relativistic point of view (which is something that many of you may come across daily on campus). The believer does a good job of continuing to bring the conversation back to the issue of this man's sin and need for Jesus Christ. Check it out!

Sunday, April 4, 2010 - 20:08

The podcast from last week's Fold talk is up. Pastor Max Curell came and gave a talk entitled "iChurch: The Marketplace of the Soul" and taught about the impact of entertainment on the church today. You can listen to it here, or subscribe to the podcast in iTunes and download it there.
