The Good Shepherd Band is the group of musicians who faithfully lead worship at ClearNote Church, Bloomington. Their primary calling is to lead God's people in weekly musical worship, but through God's gracious provision over the past few years, they have been able to record several CDs in the hopes of making God's truth more widely known in churches and homes throughout the nation.
Now, the GSB has entered in a battle-of-the-bands competition, and they need your help! Go to the Hard Rock Rising Facebook page and download the GSB's song "His Final Word" (Glorious Things, 2011) for free. The bands that get their songs downloaded the most get to play live at a battle-of-the-bands at the Hard Rock Cafe in Indianapolis.
This is a great opportunity to engage our culture by spreading the Gospel through music. Voting ends this Monday, February 6th, so jump on it!
You may have seen this video from Jefferson Bethke. His main point is that Jesus came to abolish religion. Are some of his points in this video true? Sure enough. Are some of his points totally against Scripture and Christ’s teaching? Sure enough.
Bethke is speaking against hypocrisy and legalism. The Bible teaches that an external formalism with no faith in God and no love to God is no good. However, Bethke does not stop at denouncing hypocrisy and legalism. He throws the baby out with the bath water when he gets to talking about his hatred of religion...

This annual protest has been going on for 20 years, but what set this year apart was the number of counter-protesters asserting the goodness of killing unborn children. Anyone who was at the Walk would describe it as more intense than any other year.
While the audacity of the anti-life protesters is both heartbreaking and infuriating, it is encouraging that the Walk for Life is making a big enough ripple in the Bloomington to be opposed openly.
“I was surprised; so much drunkenness, cursing and swearing (even from the mouths of little children) do I never remember to have seen and heard before in so small a compass of time. Surely this place is ripe for Him who ‘came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’”—John Wesley, 1742

The Puritans sure knew how to pray. As we enter the new year, take a minute to read and pray this prayer, taken from The Valley of Vision:
O Lord,
Length of days does not profit me
except the days are passed in thy presence,
in thy service, to thy glory.
Everyone knows that Thanksgiving is a holiday for giving thanks. We remember to be thankful for our family, our friends, our homes, our nation...but what in the world does it mean to be thankful?
Dictionary.com says that "thank" means "to express gratitude, appreciation, or acknowledgment to." To? To what? To whom? We know we're supposed to be thankful for things, but thankful to?
