This annual protest has been going on for 20 years, but what set this year apart was the number of counter-protesters asserting the goodness of killing unborn children. Anyone who was at the Walk would describe it as more intense than any other year.
While the audacity of the anti-life protesters is both heartbreaking and infuriating, it is encouraging that the Walk for Life is making a big enough ripple in the Bloomington to be opposed openly.
Also encouraging is the way the pro-lifers, including some from CNCF, engaged the wicked. The anti-life protesters were not ignored; Christians spoke the truth plainly and boldly to them. God’s Word makes it clear that this was a loving act of God’s people toward them:
If favor is shown the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly and does not see the majesty of the LORD--Isaiah 26:10
The most loving thing we can do for anyone is to help them behold the majesty of the Lord. For the wicked man, this cannot happen as long as he is allowed to continue in his ways; someone has to say “no” to his ungodly acts. To leave sinners alone in their folly is to allow them to continue in blindness and separation from God; they “will not learn righteousness” as long as everyone pretends that what they are doing is OK.
Thank God for those of you who attended on Sunday and said “no” to the violent wicked act of abortion. Continue to keep your eyes open for ways to help IU see the majesty of the Lord.
